“One of the hardest things I’ve found about being in my twenties, is accepting that maybe I’m not Superwoman and things happen when they happen”

I could only compare BEING Young & Twenty to when you order one of those big, juicy burgers from a fast food shop and a feeble, soggy one arrives. You know?

Probably a bit negative, but so far things have been disappointing from the perspective of 10-year-old Gemma’s society fuelled dreams of being twenty and fabulous.

I thought I’d have a shiny, new car – I can’t even drive.
I thought I’d have a cozy home of my own – I still live with my parents.
I thought I’d have an enviable job with a healthy income – I’ve just quit yet another job.
I thought I’d have it together – I don’t know what ‘it’ is but it certainly isn’t together.

One of the hardest things I’ve found about being in my twenties, is accepting that maybe I’m not Superwoman and things happen when they happen. Unfortunately, having mental health problems has caused a few (okay maybe a lot) of hurdles for me, and I feel I may have gone backward.

I have recently realized this and I am now trying to live my life for me, because after all it is mine. I surround myself with those who fuel my positivity and support me, and I provide myself with the things I need to keep me happy.

BEING Young & Twenty is about exploring yourself, having fun and being happy!
