Mental Health • You Could’ve Outran Your Storm

Print

” They’ll spend the rest of their lives wishing you could’ve out ran your storm. Wishing you left your shoes in the mud and your problems beneath them.”

They won’t talk about your money, your fame, or your to-die-for looks.

They won’t speak about your designer bag, the shoes you spent 3 paychecks on, or remember what generation iPhone you most recently had. They’ll never mention how ‘poor’ your grades were, or how you always took before ever giving back.

They’ll never remember how you loved wrong before you learned to love right. They’ll never put your flaws before your contagious laugh, or the things you feared before the things you faced. They’ll be broken. They’ll be hurt.

They’ll miss the way you made them smile and the way you made them laugh.

They’ll think of words left unsaid over words that you’d once spoken.

They’ll spend the rest of their lives wishing you could’ve out ran your storm.

Wishing you left your shoes in the mud and your problems beneath them.

Wishing if only they saw you break before you let yourself shatter.

When we love someone who stepped too soon off the sidewalk, who took a fatal trip, or whose life worked against all odds, there is nothing to do but appreciate the breaths they took and the life they lived, so live a great life worth remembering.
